Lincoln’s Gateway Sertoma Club and Tabitha joined forces to welcome more than 160 golfers to HiMark Golf Course in June, and raised nearly $45,000 in support of Tabitha’s Meals on Wheels. The 11th annual event featured a four-person scramble, hole games, prizes and a media challenge.
“Gateway Sertoma Club is once again honored to be a part of this tournament for Tabitha Meals on Wheels, now 11 years and running,” said Charlie Huff, Gateway Sertoma Golf committee member. “This is our largest fundraiser, and our members really work hard on it. We support Tabitha because Meals on Wheels is such a terrific program that benefits Lincoln’s seniors.”
“Partnerships with great organizations like Gateway Sertoma are why Tabitha Meals on Wheels can continue to operate,” said Christie Hinrichs, Tabitha president and CEO. “We are truly blessed by the hard work, dedication and commitment this group has shown for Tabitha Meals on Wheels.”
Gateway Sertoma was founded as a service club more than 50 years ago. The group’s mission is “service to mankind”, motivating members to volunteer service and fundraising for community programs in need.
Ten years ago, the group merged a love of service with an affinity for golf by hosting a charity golf tournament. Members turned to Tabitha to help operate the tournament, with proceeds benefiting first Tabitha Hospice and later Tabitha Meals on Wheels.
